The last  couple of days have been horror days for this blogger and it all started when a technical glitch caused all my dear subscribers to be deleted.

I have managed to get some of you back but, I know there are still some that have been lost, if you are one of them please accept my apologies and re-subscribe here.

I am still working on being able to send out notifications of new posts and a few other things (like the appearance of that subscribe button), so if you have been wondering where I have been that’s a brief explanation.

Anyway now on to things more tasty!

BE Karamu RdThis month marks 10 years since Chris and Jonelle Jarvis purchased Bay Espresso, Karamu Rd and moved from Wellington to Hawke’s Bay, as the story goes all due to an ad in the Dominion and in search of better weather. Quickly their hobby of drinking coffee in other people’s cafés became their way of life.

Bay Espresso 002 - CounterIn the 10 years their one café has grown to nine scatter across the bay.

Bay Espresso cafés can be found at the original spot in Karamu Rd as well as in: Market Street, Hastings; Omahu Road, Hastings; Glouscester St, Taradale; Middle Road, Havelock North; and Austin Street, Onekawa. In addition there is Adam & Eva’s in Donnelly St, Havelock – which is also a food store; Six Sisters on the Marine
Parade, Napier; and Tandem at 393 Te Mata Rd (the old Te Mata Cheese Factory) – located at a convenient mid-ride spot on the cycle trail, this is great place for a mid-ride recovery session.

For contact details and more information about individual cafés see end of post.

Bay Espresso 001 - Coffee MenuEach café fits it space in its own way and while they all, of course, serve Bay Espresso coffee, several of the cafés have their own blends with food to match the needs of its customers.

Our breakfasts on our second visit.

To celebrate this milestone there are a range of $10 deals, during the month of July, including $10 breakfast which consists of eggs
anyway you like with bacon and toast and your favourite Bay
Espresso coffee. These breakfasts are great value and will set you up for the whole day.

Our coffees on our second visit

JR spotted this deal in the paper a week ago, so we tried it out and enjoyed it so much that we went back again last Sunday. On both
occasions, we sampled the breakfasts at Bay Espresso, Karamu Road on Sunday morning on the way to the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market and on both occasions the service was friendly and prompt and food more than lived up to expectations, with the poached eggs being perfectly cooked and the bacon crispy.

Bay Espresso 008 - TaBay Espresso also has quirky t-shirts and these are available at some locations for just $10 and finally at six locations coffee cards
purchased through the month of July get $10 off the full price.

Congratulations Chris and Jonelle and we look forward to the
celebrations in 10 years time!

Happy cooking and eating.

All food and coffee in this post was independently paid for.
